CHENNAI: Students who appeared for the Class XII examinations this year would be issued marksheets on May 30, School Education Minister N R Sivapathy announced on Wednesday. Free text-books would be distributed to students of government and aided schools on June 1, the first day of the academic year, he informed. Announcing that the government would give notebooks free of cost to students of government and aided schools at a cost of `106 crore, he said while the notebooks would be given every trimester for students between classes I and VIII, it would be issued at one go for Classes IX and upwards.“This year, the marksheets will have photos of the respective student and a barcode identification. We will need time to prepare these, so the marksheets will be issued on May 30,” Sivapathy explained. He made this announcement while attending a programme to train Chief Educational Officers of all the educational districts in the State on the Continuous Assessment System and the Trimester System.
