THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Self-financing medical college managements in the state did not submit the details of the prospectus of entrance examinations before the P A Mohammed Committee at its meeting here on Friday. The Mohammed Committee gave managements time till 4 p.m. on Monday for submitting the details. The decision on whether to supervise the entrance examinations being conducted by the consortium formed by Kerala Private Medical College Managements Association (KPMCMA) will be taken only after receiving the details of the prospectus. This was because no agreement was signed between the State Government and the KPMCMA which controls 11 self-financing medical colleges in the state. According to sources, there seems to be differences between the Association and the Mohammed Committee over the conduct of the examinations. While the Committee wanted the entrance examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE), who is a member of the committee, the Association wants to hold the exam by itself, under the supervision of the Mohammed Committee. The Managements’ Association is afraid that they would not get enough eligible candidates for the management seats if the entrance is conducted by the CEE.Meanwhile, the State Government will hold a discussion with both the Engineering College Managements Association and medical-engineering college managements under the Inter-Church Council on Monday. The meeting will discuss the possibilities of entering into an agreement on fees and government quota.
