Mammoth book weighing 250kg to be released

MALAPPURAM: The students of the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Keezhuparambu, in Malappuram district have come up with a 5012-page hand-written book, titled ‘Sargasagaram’. Thousand students of the school worked behind the book. The school management has approached the Guinness authorities who will verify the details within six weeks.  Thousand students from Classes V to X contributed stories, poems, film and drama scripts, articles and essays for the mammoth book weighing 250 kg.High school students submitted up to five pages of the content and upper primary students, three pages.“Some of the students wrote up to 15 pages of the book,” said M R Purushothaman, the teacher who was in charge of the book. Drawing teacher at the school T K Rama designed the cover page.The work on the book began on June 19, the Reading Day. The venture was a follow-up to a programme organised by the school last year, ‘1000 writers, 1000 books’, as part of which they brought out 1,000 hand-written books containing the works by students. Speaker G Karthikeyan will release the book on Wednesday.  P K Basheer MLA will preside over the function.
