Mamata calls Bangla bandh on Thursday
The Trinamool Congress called a 12-hour 'Bangla Bandh' on Thursday with the 'moral' support of Congress.

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress called a 12-hour 'Bangla Bandh' on Thursday with the 'moral' support of Congress shortly after the ransack of the West Bengal Assembly by party members. They were protesting the alleged assault on their chief Mamta Banerjee.

The bandh would be to protest alleged forcible acquisition of farm land, police atrocities on party supporters and curbing of democratic rights of opposition parties by the Left Front Government, the Trinamool Congress chief said.

WBPCC working President Pradip Bhattacharjee said Congress would extend 'moral support' to the bandh. Congress members Sudip Bandopadhyay and Manas Bhuinya, sitting beside Banerjee, condemned the alleged assault on her.
