BANGALORE: The street-lamp posts on Rustam Bagh Layout Main Road, is on the verge of collapse and may prove to be a living disaster for the residents of this locality. The busy main road witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day. Apart from this, the busy Manipal Hospital is also situated on this road. Despite, being a completely developed road, the road poses great threats due the lack of maintenance by BESCOM and negligence of the local corporator, in fixing the street lamp posts.Three lamp post near Oxford Manor building on Rustam Bagh Layout Main Road, are precariously leaning towards one side and are about to collapse any time soon. One resident, V Padmanabhan said, "The lamps are posing a serious threat to the passers by and to the residents of the nearby building. The residents brought the issue to the notice of the local corporator and BESCOM, yet no action has been taken."The lamp posts are fragile and a heavy rainfall any time can prove catastrophic for the residents. The local corporator Chandrappa Reddy said, "None of the residents have bought this issue to my notice. I will look into the matter right away. I will inspect the posts and will take necessary action at the earliest. BESOM official, Narshima Murthy said, "We have not received any complaint so far. We will investigate the problem right away and find a solution to fix it immediately. It is hard to tell by, when it will be fixed, but we will work on it immediately." The residents are still not convinced by the response shown by the authorities. Padmanabhan said, "It has been like this for over an year. Officials assured us that they will fix it and still no action has been taken. They must fix the lamps before any mishap occurs."
