BANGALORE: Kuvempu Trust of Shivagange village in Chitradurga and the Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA) of Vimananagar in Bangalore have bagged the annual child welfare award constituted by the Women and Child Welfare department on the occasion of Children’s Day celebrations.Kamala Kashinath Kudrimothi of Koppal and Vasanth Kumar Shetty of Mangalore have got awards in the individual category for their contribution to the children welfare.While institutions will get Rs 1 lakh cash and a citation, individuals will get Rs 25,000 and a citation.Apart from this, the Child Welfare Department has selected 28 children for the National Award for their academic excellence, seven students for bravery and 38 students from government children homes for scoring more than 60 per cent in SSLC and PU exams for various awards.CHILDREN GRAMA SABHASThe department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in association with the women and child welfare department has decided to observe Children gram sabhas in all gram panchayat limits during the month November every year.Informing this to media persons here on Thursday RDPR minister Jagadish Shettar said that children gram sabhas will exclusively discuss about rights of children, their education and other children related issues including school drop-outs.Women and Child Welfare Minister C C Patil was also present at the function.
