HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday urged Union minister for human resource development Kapil Sibal to give priority to Andhra Pradesh for setting up the proposed FAB facility in the state. The Central government has proposed to establish two FAB facilities to develop electronics and hardware industry in the country. In a communication to Kapil Sibal, the chief minister said Andhra Pradesh is in the forefront of electronic manufacturing and chip design activities with the presence of public sector and private companies like ECIL, DRDO, DRDL, Midhani, BHEL, HAL, AMD R&D facilities and many electronic component manufacturing units.“The FAB city located in the city is the first dedicated special economic zone for semi-conductor and related manufacturing units in India. Due to the presence of ample facilities required for semi-conductor and hardware industries, the state should be given priority for setting up the FAB facility,” he said.In a separate letter, Kiran Kumar Reddy requested Union minister of state for defence MM Pallam Raju to also expedite the process for setting up the proposed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited manufacturing facility.
