Hubli: Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa criticised Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge’s reported remarks against Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar. Kharge had reportedly questioned if the CM new the map of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Eshwarappa said, “Kharge is a senior politician. I did not expect such remarks from him against the Chief Minister. It only depict his narrowmindedness.” He added that Kharge should immediately withdraw his words.
According to him, Kharge could have developed the Hyderabad-Karnataka region by using his power in the Centre but had not done anything. “It was nothing but deceiving the people of the state,” he added. To a query, Eshwarappa said that he felt miscreants were behind circulating false SMSes for which many Northeasterners had left the state.
He said that the Northeasterners can stay anywhere in the state and the government will give them protection. Eshwarappa alleged that the UPA government was engaged in massive corruption. “Coal block distribution was a major scam. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should have resigned from his post owning moral responsibility, when the CAG report stated that the exchequer had incurred a loss of Rs 1.86 lakh crore due to the scam,” he said.
He added that former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda and party national secretary Ananth Kumar would be touring the drought-hit districts in the state from August 28. Eshwarappa added that the BJP was ready to face Assembly elections, which he predicted will occur soon.
