Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala prisons department has recommended remission of sentences of businessmen Mohammed Nisham, the convict in the Hummer murder case, and 11 convicts in the T P chandrashekaran Murder case.

According to an RTI reply, the recommended list for remission also included 11 convicts in the TP Chandrashekaran murder case.

Of the 1,911 names, submitted by the prisons department, the state government has forwarded about 1850 names to Kerala Governor Justice K Sathasivam. The governor sent back the list seeking clarifications as there was no detailed report of each prisoner.

The governor also wanted to know if the list was prepared taking into consideration the guidelines given by the Supreme court.

Former Home Minister and congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that according to existing laws these convicts cannot be recommended for remission under the existing rules.
