Amidst strict dress code barring candidates to wear full sleeve shirts, shoes, accessories, brooches, etc to the JEE Main & Advanced examination halls, CBSE has allowed diabetic examinees to carry sugar tablets, fruits and transparent water bottle in the examination room.
In the official Information Bulletin released by the Board for JEE Main 2018 Examination earlier, CBSE has outlined, ‘The candidates, suffering from diabetes, are allowed to carry into the examination hall the eatables like sugar tablets / fruits (like banana / apple / orange) and transparent water bottle. However, the candidates are not allowed to carry packed foods like chocolate / candy / sandwich in the examination hall.’
This is a relieving step for Diabetic candidates who can feel serious health repercussions due to continuous sitting and non-availability of food for 3 hours at a stretch. Also, experts are of the view that it takes more than 3 hours for the candidates to be without food during JEE Mains, Advanced or other competitive exams. The process of check-in, then verification, security check, finding the exam room, locating their seat, etc takes around 5-6 hours including the duration of the exam.
However, CBSE has barred beverages like tea, coffee, cold drinks in the examination hall and smoking and eating is strictly prohibited during the exam time.What is allowed inside the Examination Hall?
1. Candidates are advised to carry their Admit Card, Identity proof and PwD category certificate.
2. Candidates of Architecture, are allowed to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and color pencils or crayons for the Aptitude Test.
3. A blank cardboard or clip board is allowed.
4. Use of pencil is strictly prohibited.
5. Candidates are not required to bring ball point pens and the same is supplied by the examination authority at the examination hall.What is not allowed inside the Examination Hall?
Candidates are not allowed to carry calculators, Docu Pen, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device. If any such device is caught, it can be seized immediately by the invigilator.The Repercussions?
The repercussions of carrying anything that is not allowed or getting caught while engaging in any malpractice can get the candidate barred not for the current exam but for future JEE exams as well.
