New Delhi: Senior JD(U) leader Prabhunath Singh met Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Friday morning and withdrew his resignation from the Lok Sabha.

Singh had quit on Thursday after being involved in a scuffle with RJD MPs including Sadhu Yadav and handed over a handwritten resignation letter to the Speaker who promptly threw it in the wastepaper basket. The Speaker later deplored the conduct of these MPs.

"I must once again express my strongest possible condemnation about the incident that has happened. Please see that the House image in not further tarnished," Chatterjee said.

Chatterjee told the House during Question Hour that the member, who was not in the House, should be called in.

Minutes later Singh walked into the House.
