KOCHI: The Kochi centre of The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) is holding Bhagavad Gita chanting and puranic quiz contests as part of Gita Jayanthi celebrations.The aim of the programme is to inculcate Vedic knowledge and culture in children in their formative years and to enhance their knowledge and facilitate personality development. The preliminary of the Gita chanting contest in slokas of Chapter 15 will be held at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, on November 20 from 9 am for students from LKG to Std X. Students will be divided into four groups. The preliminary of the quiz will be held on November 27. The quiz will be based on Valmiki Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavat Gita. Each team should have two members. Questions would be asked in Malayalam and repeated in English. Contestants should bring proof of age or class. The registration fee for both is `50. The final round will be held on December 4 at the NSS Hall, Tripunithura. Cash prizes of `1001, `701 and `501 will be given to the first three winners, according to a press release.
