New Delhi/Ahmedabad: The Forensic Science Laboratory report on the Gujarat hooch tragedy reveals that the country-made liquor, consumed by many in Ahmedabad, had a large dose of methyl alcohol – four times the permissible dose - making it lethal.
In all, 136 people died in Ahmedabad after consuming this liquor.
Hundreds of others are still fighting for life in city hospitals.
In all, 1,100 litres of hooch was reportedly brought to Ahmedabad from Mohammadabad.
Out of this 700 litres were allegedly supplied by liquor kingpin Hariom Kehar's gang.
Meanwhile an investigation conducted with IBN-Network has found that police were hand in glove with hooch brokers.
According to sources, at least seven police stations in Ahmedabad knew about the hooch sale and did nothing to check it.
The Network is in possession a list that names 44 brokers who regularly collect hafta (extortion money) from 32 illegal liquor manufacturers and then share the spoils with the cops.
The police stations involved in the multi-crore operation include Odhav, Gaekwad, Narayanpur and even Sabarmati.
There are at least two brokers associated with each station.
