Nawaz asked India to avoid making negative statements about Pak.

Islamabad: Former prime minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif on Monday asked the Indian leadership to avoid making negative statements about Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai attacks as Islamabad wanted better relations with New Delhi.

Addressing a reception hosted in Bahawalpur in Punjab province, Sharif said Pakistan is a responsible country and wanted better relations with all its neighbours, including India.

He called for an end to what he described as "negative statements" against Pakistan by Indian leaders.

The opposition PML-N chief also criticised the statements and policies of former President Pervez Musharaf, saying these did not serve the national interests.

Joining the the war of words, Musharraf on Saturday said surgical strikes cannot be carried out against Pakistan and in case of such an eventuality, the country is prepared to respond with "full force".

Clearly in no mood to handover Mumbai terror suspects to India, Pakistan on Monday said it will conduct its own investigation into the dossier given by New Delhi and punish any person found involved under its own laws.
