Income Tax Returns: e-filing Websites Have Glitches
July 31 is the last day for filing returns and unconfirmed reports said that the government will not be extending the deadline.

New Delhi: On the last day for filing Income Tax returns, the two most popular websites for filing them online are not functioning smoothly. The government website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and cleartax.in/income-tax-efiling, are both functioning with technical glitches, probably owing to the heavy rush of people filing their returns online.

July 31 is the last day for filing returns and unconfirmed reports said that the government will not be extending the deadline. Efforts to contact officials at the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Finance Ministry wing dealing with Income Tax, proved futile.

In order to file ITR one needs PAN card, aadhar card, Form 16 (issued by the employer), bank account number and investment and salary details. You will have to link your Aadhar to the PAN in order to file returns. In case the most popular portals are running slowly there are others which you can use.

Once you upload the relevant information and e-file your returns you’ll get an acknowledgement form. This is your copy.
