New Delhi: Now a magic socks that never ever smells. This is IIT's biggest contribution to feet kind, an anti microbial socks which will never require any washing since it'll never ever smell.
Professor Gulrajani of IIT's textile technology and his band of students did some simple thinking. They dipped ordinary socks in silver Nano solution, which is known to have curative and anti microbial properties.
That is not all. Apart from all the complicated rocket science work that goes on in IIT, there is also the simple every day use kind of stuff that students are constantly innovating like 70 per cent UV proof umbrella that keeps the sun tan and the cancer away. This is courtesy third year students of the textile department.
Dr M L Gulrajani, Professor IIT Textile Techonology Dept says, "These are tech our small scale industries India can use. These are indigenous these are cheap. What's tech if it can't be used by the masses."
At the computer science department Rohan and his classmates are racking their brains on how to make this blind stick smarter than it already is. This stick senses objects more than 3 mts away and starts vibrating.
The closer the object gets the more intense the vibrations. The idea is to alert the blind person to objects waist upwards which cannot be detected by the normal blind stick.
Rohan Misra, IIT student says, “Most of these innovations are still in the development stage and need industry support to eventually reach end users like you and me.”
Since these guys are already at it, can we please ask them to invent a sunscreen that actually works or a car that runs on water instead of expensive perfume, or better still a robot that does all the house hold chores without cribbing or asking for a raise every second wee wishful thinking you thing. Well going by the way IIT is innovating it might just come true.
