THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Neha Chowhan was awarded the trophy for the Best All-rounder Student of ISRO’s Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST).The trophy was presented to Neha during the Fourth Foundation Day celebrations of IIST held at Valiyamala on Wednesday evening. ‘Drishtikon’, the IIST students’ magazine, was also released on the occasion. This is the first time that the deemed university under the Department of Space is celebrating the Foundation Day on its permanent campus at Valiyamala. Celebrations in the previous years were held on the temporary campus at Veli. Speaker G Karthikeyan inaugurated the celebrations. Palode Ravi MLA presided over the function and Nedumangad municipality chairperson Lekha Suresh released the students’ magazine.VSSC Director P S Veeraraghavan, LPSC Director S Ramakrishnan, IISU Director G Ravindranath and NIIST Director Suresh Das offered felicitations. Trophies for winners of competitions and certificates for best academic and extra-curricular activities were distributed on the occasion. IIST Registrar N Vasudevan presented a report on IIST. IIST Director K S Dasgupta and dean (academics) R Krishnan spoke. The function also included cultural programmes by students, teachers and other IIST staff.
