BANGALORE: Multitude of problems at the Govt Ayurvedic hospital and Sri Jayachamarajendra Indian Medical Institute welcomed medical education minister S A Ramdass during his surprise visit here on Tuesday.The huge absenteeism at the hospital shocked the minister who noticed that nearly 83 medical officers and staff members were not present on duty. Some of them are enjoying extended leave which has not been properly reported in the registers. He also asked the AYUSH director to check the register and biometric system thoroughly.Besides, the OPD register was not maintained properly by the medical officers. “The details of the patients were not recorded properly in the OPD registers. The resident medical officer has been asked take stringent actions against it,” said SA Ramdass.The minister also instructed the authorities to remove the unused furniture in the hospital. Even the machines which need repair should be immediately repaired in the physiotherapy department. “The department should also be equipped with new equipment,” he added.Not just this, the hospital has not properly maintained the medicinal plants in the premises. Most of the plants do not have the name plates and details of medicinal property on it. He has asked the authorities to put a stall of medicinal plants during the Mysore Dasera festival.Ramdass also ordered for a cancellation of the contract of the security services which he said should immediately be replaced by the home guards. He also observed illegal encroachment by vendors at the hospital premises.He has asked the AYUSH director to submit the report to him within ten days. The committee is headed by Dr Venkatesh, joint director, Medical education department. As many as four staff members were issued showcause notices.
