Bangalore: Banga Beats shuttler Hu Yun feels the level of competition in the Indian Badminton League (IBL) is similar to the prestigious World Championships.

"I think there is very good competition here. It is a lot like the World Championship because the same set of players feature in these tournaments," said the China-born shuttler, who represents Hong Kong.

Yun, who lost in the third round of the World Championships, said he was impressed and would participate in the second edition of the IBL.

The Hong Kong player said he has made many friends and they discussed badminton regularly.

The Beats were contemplating to replace Yun due to his unavailability in later stages of the league as he was scheduled to take part in Chinese National Games to be held in Liaoning from August 31 to September 12.

However, Yun was permitted to play in IBL.

"My government is open-minded, so I had no issues," he said.
