New Delhi: Mahesh Bhupathi and Radek Stepanek's campaign in the Artois Championship was cut short in the second round by third seeds Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyet, who inflicted a straight set defeat on the Indo-Czech duo in the €680,250 ATP event.
Bhupathi and Stepanek went down 1-6, 4-6 to Australian Hanley and his Zimbabwean partner Ullyet.
Bhupathi and Stepanek had beaten the Serbian pair of Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic 6-1, 7-5 in the first round.
Earlier, Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna's hope for a place in the main singles draw of the event was dashed after the Indian was beaten 6-3, 6-4 by Gilles Muller (Luxembourg) in the second qualifying round.
