Health minister visits blast victims
Seventeen people were killed when detonators kept in a car exploded in Senthur near Villupuram.

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday visited a hospital in Puducherry where people injured in a car explosion on Saturday are being treated.

Seventeen people were killed and over 20 injured when gelatine sticks and detonators kept in a car exploded in Senthur near Villupuram in Tamil Nadu.

Pattali Makkal Katchi president G K Mani would meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to seek more compensation for people killed in the explosion.

Puducherry Member of Parliamaent M Ramadoss and PMK party functionaries also visited the blast victims. Earlier, Union Minister of State for Railways, R Velu, Tamil Nadu Education Minister R Ponmudi, Tamizhar Desiya Iyakkem leader R Nedumaran and Tamil Nadu former Minister C V Shanmugam, MLA, visited the injured persons.

In related developlment, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy rejected AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa’s allegation that the explosion was an act of terror.

Veersamy alleged Jayalalithaa's was trying to create panic among people. Police inquiry revealed the explosion was an accident.
