A division bench of the High Court on Monday penalised a petitioner by imposing `25,000 costs for filing a frivolous plea with regard to alleged dislosure of 'information' to some vernacular dailies by CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana and his associates.
Justice Ghose has first imposed Rs 2 lakh as costs on the petitioner and later reduced it to `25,000 after repeated pleadings of his counsel.
Bhushan B Bhavanam, a businessman from Guntur district, filed a PIL seeking a direction to declare the action of the CBI joint director in committing acts of chicanery and misguiding the court by making a submission that he or his associates have not divulged any information to print or other media.
Justice Ghose said, "We have dismissed a similar plea earlier by pointing out that the petitioner did not make any of the media houses as respondents and also did not seek any specific direction against them. Now this petition seems to be filed to cover up those lapses, it is nothing but a sponsored litigation and also with ulterior motive."
