HYDERABAD: A two-Judge Bench of Chief Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar of the High Court on Wednesday reserved its orders on a writ petition filed by Telugu Desam leader K Yerran Naidu and others for an inquiry into the alleged ill-gotten wealth of YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.Hearing the petition, the third in as many days against Jagan, the Chief Justice pointed out that the court was concerned only with the question whether there was a prima facie case against Jagan. In the event of the court coming to the conclusion that there was no prima facie case, the petitions could be dismissed, he said and clarified that if the court believed an investigation must be ordered, it would not require hearing of all the parties that fall within the ambit of the probe. At one stage, the court witnessed heated exchanges between the Chief Justice and advocate Sushil Kumar. “You are not the Supreme Court,” the Chief Justice told Kumar to which he replied he knew he was carrying out the functions of an advocate under the Advocates Act. “When there is even a minor delay in filing an FIR, courts mock at their credibility and quash FIRs. How then can such a delayed complaint be looked into?” Kumar wondered and pointedly asked, “since when have courts become police stations? Everything is being controlled by Delhi.”
