KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy launched the website of ‘Haritholsavam’ at the Government Guest House here on Sunday. Haritholsavam, a government programme inaugurated in 2009, is an exhibition of flowers showcasing various aspects of farming.“We need to take up programmes such as Haritholsavam to support farmers,” said Oommen Chandy while launching the site.‘Haritholsavam 2011’, which will be held from September 3 to 7, will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar. This year the theme for ‘Haritholsavam’ is banana. Vegetables and jackfruit were the themes in previous years.A society will be set up to promote similar programmes for which the Central Government will fund Rs 25 lakh. The programmes should have a permanent nature, for which such a society is needed,” Chandy said.
