HYDERABAD: Representatives of GVKEMRI called on chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi here on Thursday, seeking release of funds for running the `108' ambulance service without any hassle. But the chief secretary asked them to approach principal secretary (health) K Ratna Kishore to sort out the issue.
The attitude of the GVKEMRI management on the operation of the 108 ambulance services has came under severe criticism at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Most of the ministers felt that the government was giving undue importance to GVK which they said failed to run the ambulance service though the government was releasing funds every quarter. They said GVKEMRI was unnecessarily making the release of funds an issue and was issuing statements without consulting the government. It may be recalled that the GVK group entered into a memorandum of agreement (MoU) with the state government to operate over 800 ambulances in the state under the EMRI services and the government agreed to release funds amounting to Rs 95,000 per each vehicle every month. "Though the government is releasing the promised funds every quarter, the GVKEMRI management has been complaining about release of money," said officials.
