HYDERABAD: The second incident of a Ganesh idol being damaged at the sensitive Madannapet locality in the Old City has lead to a tense atmosphere in the area.The police, suspecting the incidents could be happening with a ‘’particular design’’ have further intensified patrolling and vigil in the lanes and bylanes.On Tuesday, a Ganesh idol had been found damaged.Tension gripped the locality on Wednesday night after unidentified persons damaged the idol installed near the Old Idgah in Madannapet.The pandal was reportedly left unattended by locals who later noticed the trunk portion of the idol had been broken.KN Surya-prakash, inspector of Madannapet police said the incident took place on Wednesday night after locals performed regular pooja.“We received the information today morning that a few unidentified miscreants had damaged the Ganesh idol.After locals performed pooja and closed pandal, a few persons came to the pandal and broke the trunk from the idol,” he added.Sources however said the incidents appearing to be minor in nature, could well be part of a design.“It is the second such incident and some trouble-mongers are behind it.We have stepped up patrolling to ensure that each and every pandal is covered by our men,’’ a police official said.Madannapet police have registered a case and investigation is on.Wineshopsclosurefor Ganesh immersionHYDERABAD: Cyberabad police ordered on Thursday for closure of wine shops, bar and restaurants under its various police station limits following the immersion of Ganesh idols.Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Cyberabad police commissioner said they have an issued an order that all wine shops, including bars and restaurants (excluding bars in star hotels) will remain closed on account of Ganesh immersion on September 9 and on September 10 from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. Meanwhile, in Hyderabad wine shops and bars will be closed from 6 a.m on September 10 to 12 noon on September 1
