CHENNAI: The International Centre for Cardio-thoracic and Vascular Diseases signed a research tie-up with RMK Engineering College to further collaborative research in areas related to monitoring systems in cardio-vascular care. The main purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to develop indigenous diagnostic tools for better heart care. A part of Dr K M Cherian’s Heart Foundation, the centre will also research health monitoring systems and submit a joint research proposal on bio-technology under the Australian Fund for Science and Technology.Dr KM Cherian, Chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline said, “With an opportunity for these students to work with us, these engineers will get a taste of human engineering.” He added that he was looking forward to more such strategic tie-ups. Chairman of RMK Engineering College RS Munirathinam said, the initiative would help develop products that minimised surgical complications.
