New Delhi: Pooja Bhatt's 'Paap' not only gave the Hindi film industry a versatile singer like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan but it also introduced a dreamy eyed girl Udita Goswami to the audiences. The film didn't work but she was noticed. 'Zeher' and 'Aksar' enhanced her visibility but her image remained more or less of a second line heroine.
However 'Aksar' released in 2006 became her last film from a recognised banner. Though she worked in some other films after 'Aksar' but success remained elusive to her. Now she is again all set to feature in 'Diary of a Butterfly'.
The film boasts of an interesting subject where an extremely ambitious girl understands the mistakes she has committed throughout her life via her mother's diary.
Another gorgeous actress Rati Agnihotri is playing the mother's character. The primary storyline suggests that Udita has finally got a role where she can flaunt her acting skills rather than just doing a skin show.
So far, Udita has remained in the public view for her bare back photo shoots than her performances in films. She is playing Gul, a success hungry girl who can go to any extent to achieve her dreams. Her dreams bring her to Mumbai where she uses people to climb the success ladder. No relationship rather nothing matters for Gul if it presents any hindrances in her path to success.
She also takes the diary of his mother as a practical joke but one day she decides to know her own reality and starts reading the note written in the diary.
Very soon the reality of the corporate world of Mumbai becomes clear to her and Gul decides to apologise to people she did hurt during the journey to the top. This is her turn to receive shock now. Finally she decides to remain the way she is.
Such a plotline is capable of helping the director Vinod Mukhi in achieving a good sensible film but Udita Goswami's acting skills have never been tested in the past. She was basically an eye candy in 'Paap' while her value in 'Zeher' was nothing more than a glamour girl.
If she manages to do the role with ease then she can think of starting a fresh inning in Bollywood. Plus Udita also has a good chance to learn something from veteran actress like Rati Agnihotri.####
