Fishermen chased away in mid-sea

RAMANATHAPURAM: The fishermen from Rameswaram were chased away in mid-sea by Sri Lankan fishermen in the wee hours of Thursday. More than 500 boats had set out to sea for fishing from Rameswaram. At mid-sea, Sri Lankan boats surrounded the fisher boats and they damaged the nets and robbed the catch of their Indian counterparts. The fishermen returned with a poor catch. However, no complaint was lodged with fisheries departme nt and the police so far.
