Fire breaks out at footwear shop, goods gutted

BANGALORE: A fire mishap occurred in the Reliance Foot Print showroom at Koramangala on Thursday afternoon and footwear, bags and other materials worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the incident.The incident took place in  Koramangala’s outlet. The entire building was under smoke. About 17 fire engines rushed to the spot and took about five  hours to douse the fire, police said.The officials said that the electric short circuit in the Reliance Foot Print’s godown, where the footwear and bags were stored led to the incident. Reports said, smoke spread to all the floors of the building, where other shops like restaurant, gym and other show rooms are also located. About 20 people in the Reliance Foot Print Showroom ran out of the showroom when they noticed smoke at 1.30 PM.The Fire Department was informed about the incident one hour later. Personnel from Fire Department broke open the glass walls of the showroom to douse the fire.The officials of the Fire Department said that the building does not have a No Objection Certificate from the department and there was no security measures taken to prevent any fire mishaps. Police said that there is no causality and nobody has been injured as everybody in the building came out immediately after they noticed the smoke inside. However, the Koramangala police have registered case and further investigating in this regard.
