VIJAYAWADA: The last rites of People's War Group (PWG) co-founder and dalit literary icon KG Satyamurthy were performed here on Wednesday amidst scores of followers, admirers and family who bid a tearful adieu. His body was cremated at Swargapuri crematorium in the city. The mortal remains of Satyamurthy, who died at Kandulapadu village in G Konduru mandal on Tuesday following a prolonged illness, were brought to the city in a flower-decked coffin in the early hours of Wednesday. The body was kept at the Krishna District Freedom Fighters' Home for public to pay their last respects. Later, a huge funeral procession was taken out from Freedom Fighters Home to the crematorium amid slogans 'Comrade Satyam amar rahe'.Virasam leader Kalyan Rao, MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga, Chalasani Prasad, U Sambhasiva Rao, K Srinivas of Andhra Jyothi, Y Koteshwar Rao, Vasantha Lakshmi, Goreti Venkanna, Juluri Gowri Shankar and APCLC leader P Srinivas were among the Dalit and revolutionary leaders who paid their last respects to the Maoist ideologue. Telangana Praja Front leader and balladeer Gaddar and Dalit leader Katti Padma Rao consoled the bereaved family members on phone.Virasam leaders and admirers of Satyamurthy have planned a condolence meet ing at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad on April 24.
