Field day for chain snatchers

CHENNAI: Chain snatchers appeared to have had a field day on Wednesday, with at least six snatching cases reported from the residential hubs of Thiruvanmiyur and more than 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen in the incidents.In a matter of five minutes, riders of a Pulsar motorbike targeted three women walking alone on the road, and escaped with their gold ornaments. In the first incident, Vanitha Ravindran (28) of Fourth Street in PTC Colony, Thiruvanmiyur, was returning from a medical shop around 5 pm. When she was at Lakshmana Perumal Nagar, two men on a Pulsar bike snatched her four-sovereign ‘thali.’
