Trouble mounted for R K Pachauri when another woman, a former employee of TERI, on Wednesday came out in public making similar allegations while demands were made for putting on hold his fresh appointment as its Executive Vice Chairman.
The woman employee, who worked with TERI for a year from 2003, released a letter saying Pachauri used to make "verbal and physical sexual advances" towards her.
"I had been sexually harassed by him and had seen him behave extremely indecently with other women at TERI too," she said in her letter.
She alleged that on one occasion he forcibly held her and kissed her on the face.
Her letter has details on how Pachauri gave her a suggestive nickname and how he would crack sexually implicit comments.
Here are the excerpts of her letter:
# I had been sexually harassed by him and had seen him behave extremely indecently with other women at Teri too.
# Mr. R.K. Pachauri would use the excuse of work assignments to call me to his office room, even though there was no real work that he needed to discuss.
# Soon after I joined Teri and began interacting with Mr. R.K. Pachauri, he had renamed me with a sexually suggestive nickname "XXXX".
# On one occasion, when he had called me to his sixth floor office room to discuss work, he told me that he could lift hefty and heavy women, so lifting me would not be a problem for him.
# It had become evident to me that the man, as old as my father, was looking for opportunities to be alone with me and physical contact.
# I felt demeaned as an individual, a woman and as a professional.
# Mr. R.K. Pachauri used to call me on my personal mobile number once or twice during a week during non office hours and holidays to ask what I was doing.
# He would call me to his room on the pretext of discussing work, then he would then make attempts to come close to my body or hold my hand.
