BANGALORE: A 25-year-old priest was hacked to death by two unidentified assailants, who also attacked the victim’s parents and sister. It is suspected that the priest refusing to marry a girl, with whom he was reportedly in love, led to the murder and the girl herself along with two men allegedly killed the priest. The incident was reported in Thalaghattapura police station limits late on Saturday midnight.The victim Sandeep, was a resident of Bhuvaneshwarinagar. His father Shringesh, mother Sarojamma and sister Archana have sustained injuries in the incident and have been admitted to NIMHANS. Sandeep was a priest of Ganesha temple in Kengeri Satellite town.According to the police, Sandeep was reportedly in love with a girl, identified as Revathi of Vasanthapura, from the last four years. Though the girl forced him for wedding, Sandeep allegedly postponed it claiming that they belonged to different castes. The duo also had frequent fights over the issue. It is said that he had refused to marry her and had broke the relationship with her recently.“Around 12.30 am on Sunday, Revathi along with two relatives allegedly came to Sandeep’s house. Though his mother Sarojamma, who was aware of her son’s relationship, asked them to come in the morning, the trio barged into the house. As Sarojamma, Shringesh and Archana tried to stop them, they were allegedly beaten up before the accused hacked Sandeep, who was sleeping, and escaped,” police informed.During the incident, Sandeep’s brother-in-law Arun Kumar was at home and he reported the matter to the police and the injured were shifted to hospital. In his complaint, Arun Kumar alleged that Revathi has carried out the murder.Thalaghattapura police have registered a case.
