ANANTAPUR: The district administration has resolved the water row between Singanamala and Tadipatri constituencies on Saturday by agreeing to release water simultaneously to Tadipatri branch canal and Putlur tank.
Primary education minister S Sailajanath, who represents Singanamala, and Tadipatri MLA JC Diwakar Reddy were firm on their demand for release of water to their respective constituencies first. Sailajanath sought release of water to Putlur tank from the High Level Canal for the drinking needs of people of the the region, while Diwakar Reddy wanted water for irrigation needs of his constituency. On Dec 26, Sailajanath along with Anantapur MP A Venkatarami Reddy released water from Subbaraya Sagar to Putlur tank, closing the way for flow of water into Tadipatri branch canal.

When farmers of Tadipatri took the incident to the notice of Diwakar Reddy, he rushed to the place and removed the obstacle to allow free flow of water into Tadipatri branch canal using earthdiggers. Prohibitory orders were promulgated in the two constituencies to thwart any untoward incident. Following war of words between former Tadipatri municipal chairman JC Prabhakar Reddy and Sailajanath, district collector V Durga Das held talks with officials and public representatives to solve the matter.
