Ranchi: The Jharkhand Forest Department is mulling appointment of Team India skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni as the brand ambassador for the Save Tiger Project.
"We want to rope in the skipper in this noble cause. If the team India captain joins this campaign it will have a tremendous impact. But right now we are awaiting for his approval," said Mukesh Kumar Verma, deputy secretary of the
department.
The Uttarakhand government has already appointed Dhoni brand ambassador of the Save Tiger Project.
The department has drafted a proposal following the initiative of the principal secretary AK Sarkar which has been sent for the approval of minister Sudesh Kumar Mahto who is a close friend of Dhoni.
A formal announcement is likely to be made when Dhoni will be felicitated for his remarkable success in the World Cup 2011, at the residence of Mahto on Saturday evening.
As per schedule Dhoni will also plant a tree on World Environment Day on Sunday.
