KOCHI: The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will distribute Dhanwanthari pehchan cards to all its ESI beneficiaries and its whole transaction will go completely online by December 31.  Pehchan cards will be accepted across the country at all the ESI Hospitals and the hospitals which have a tie-up with the ESIC. ‘Reaching out to the maximum number of stakeholders’ is the diamond jubilee year motto of the ESIC, said T K Bhattacharyya, ESIC Commissioner. He was addressing the press at the diamond jubilee programme of the corporation ‘ESIC - A Journey that Became a Movement’.  The ESIC will complete 60 years on February 24, 2012. It aims to provide insurance protection to the maximum number of people. The corporation is also coming up with a number of plans to improve the quality of its services, he said. The corporation has its regional office at Thrissur and sub regional offices at Kollam and Ernakulam and divisional office at Kozhikode.  The ESIC, Kerala region, has 51 ESIC branch officers for disbursing cash benefits, 13 hospitals and 136 ESI dispensaries under the ESI scheme. Of these 13 hospitals, one ESIC Medical College proposed at Paripally, Kollam, is nearing completion. As part of the diamond jubilee each state will have a model ESI dispensary. Wellness camps will be held at all hospitals to spread awareness.  One branch office will be declared as the model branch office with all facilities while all others will continue providing all basic amenities.  The ESI Scheme at Kerala is providing its services to over 6.15 million insured persons. The corporation has taken over the ESI hospitals at Asramam, Parippally and Ezhukone in Kollam district and Uydyogamandal in Ernakulam district.  It is also entering into tie-ups with other hospitals on cashless basis and there will be public-private participation.   T K Bhattacharya also launched the website of the Ernakulam region and flagged off the road show.
