New Delhi: A 23-year-old youth has been arrested for making a hoax bomb call to the Police Control Room (PCR) in New Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
Subodh Singh was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad town, adjoining Delhi, on Tuesday for making a hoax bomb call to police around 10.40 pm on Sunday. He claimed that a bomb would explode in the Jama Masjid area in the capital.
"After a search was carried out in the area, it was found to be a hoax call," Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said.
A resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, Subodh Singh used to work at a travel agency in North Delhi's Kashmere Gate area. He was traced on the basis of call records.
He later admitted that he made the hoax call under the influence of liquor.
"The mobile phone along with SIM card used to make the call has been recovered. The SIM card was registered in the name of his mother-in-law Shera Bibi," the deputy commissioner of police said.
