Delhi schools' summer vacation extended by 1 week
All government schools and majority of private schools were scheduled to reopen on Monday but now they will reopen on July 9.

New Delhi: In view of the prevailing heat wave in the capital, the Delhi government on Sunday extended the summer vacation of city schools by one more week.

All government schools and majority of private schools were scheduled to reopen on Monday but now they will reopen on July 9.

The vacations had started on May 12.

Meanwhile, the 26 per cent hike in power tariff for domestic consumers in the city will come into effect from Sunday. The new rates were announced by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on Wednesday.

As per the new rates, consumers will have charged Rs 3.70 per unit for the first 200 units and Rs 4.80 for the monthly usages of upto 400 units.
