New Delhi: It's a dead heat in Trinagar between Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party. The Assembly seat in North West Delhi is almost divided equally between the two parties as voting day approaches.
Many people are still swayed by the Narendra Modi wave while others see Arvind Kejriwal as the only politician who can give a corruption-free government.
Trinagar has a mixed population and has 1.58 lakh voters. People from all over the country reside here.
The seat has four wards - Trinagar, Rampura, Kohat and Shakarpur. While the Congress won Rampura ward, rest were won by the BJP. With the support of 2.25 lakh party workers, the BJP is confident of retaining the seat this time.
BJP has fielded its sitting MLA Nand Kishore Garg against Congress's Anil Bhardwaj and AAP's Jitender Tomar.
"BJP will win the poll and Kiran Bedi will become the chief minister. I have no hope from Arvind Kejrwal as he did not fulfil any of his promises and sat on dharna," says Sudhir Jain.
A few want the state and Centre to have the same government and their only hope is BJP now.
"Development will only happen when the state and Centre have same government. I do not trust Kejriwal anymore. Kiran Bedi will work and we have seen her reform work at Tihar Jail as well," says Shalu Pasricha.
But there many who are backing AAP and say Kejriwal should be given one more chance.
"Only AAP will work for Delhi and both Congress and BJP are dishonest. Whatever Kerjiwal did in 49 days none of the parties did it in 60 years," says an old man.
Backing AAP, Vipin Wadhwa, a resident, says, "One more chance should be given to Kejriwal. Kiran Bedi won't do anything and will only become puppet in the hands of BJP."
