The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for rainfall in the national capital on Monday, with warnings of thunderstorms and lightning. While, Gurugram and Faridabad, received an orange alert with warnings of heavy rain.
On Sunday, heavy rain caused significant traffic disruptions across Delhi, with residents reporting 47 incidents of waterlogging throughout the city.
A Public Works Department (PWD) official stated that they received 40 calls about waterlogging and three reports of fallen trees. Of the 40 complaints, 35 to 38 waterlogging issues have been resolved.
According to IMD data, Safdarjung, the city’s primary weather station, recorded 26.3 mm of rain, while Lodi Road saw 30.4 mm, Palam 20.4 mm, and Mayur Vihar 55.5 mm between 2:30 and 5:30 PM.

“On Saturday, around 6.30 pm, a PCR call regarding the drowning of a child in a park in Sector 20 in Rohini was received at Aman Vihar Police Station,” a senior police officer said.
The police arrived at the scene to find that the child had already been rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the child drowned in the park. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further actions are being taken.
