New Delhi: Kenyan long-distance runners maintained their domination in the marathon by winning two gold medals, a silver and a bronze in the men's and women's event on the last day of the Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.
In the men's section, Kenyan John Ekiru Kelai won the gold with a timing of 2:14.35 seconds while his compatriot Amos Tirop Matui finished third clocking 2:15.58. The silver went to Australian Michael Shelley with a timing of 2:15.28.
India's Ram Singh Yadav (2:21.24) and Bining Lyngkhoi (2:23.01) finished eighth and ninth.
Kenyan women finished 1-2 with Irene Jerotich Kosgei winning the gold in 2:34.32 and the silver went to her compatriot Irene Kemunto Mogake who clocked 2:34.43. Australian Lisa Weightman settled for the bronze in 2:35.25 seconds.
The lone Indian runner in the women's section, Preethi Lakshmi Rao, finished 11th in 3:08.14.
