PUDUCHERRY: A Judicial Magistrate Court in Tindivanam, on Tuesday, issued notice to Puducherry Education Minister PML Kalyanasundaram under Section 73 of the CrPC, asking him to appear for inquiry in the impersonation case against him by October 20 either before the District Crime Branch, Villupuram or the court, or make a statement if he had any objection to appear for the inquiry.The notice was sent by post to his office and his residence. The court has responded to the petition filed by the Villupuram District Crime branch seeking a direction to Kalyanasundaram to cooperate in the inquiry with regard to the impersonation case registered against him. The Crime Branch observed that despite issuing summons to the Minister, he had evaded inquiry. The police needed to get his sample signature to inquire into the case, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayaraj, the investigating officer, told Express. Earlier, the summons issued to Kalyanasundaram by Villupuram District crime branch for the second time on October 15 through the Secretary, Puducherry Assembly, for his appearance before them on October 18 went undelivered again.Instead the Secretary, M Sivaprakasam, sent a reply to the Inspector, Villupuram District Crime Branch, suggesting that they approach the Madras High Court in this matter. He said that the Minister had already moved the High Court for anticipatory bail and the hearing had been posted for October 21. The court also issued a direction that the Minister should not be arrested till then. Under these circumstances, the police could approach the High Court, he stated.Meanwhile, speculation is rife about the future of the Minister.Though there has been a demand from political circles, which includes the Congress and AIADMK, for his resignation, Chief Minister N Rangasamy has maintained a stoic silence on the issue. So far he has not given any indications for obtaining resignation from the minister nor of dropping him from the cabinet. CM’s visit to Raj Nivas creates flutter Chief Minister N Rangasamy’s sudden visit to Raj Nivas on Tuesday evening created a flutter. Speculation about Kalyanasundram having resigned or dropped by the CM surfaced. However, when media approached him after the visit, he said that he called on the Lieutenant Governor for administrative reasons and avoided questions about the Education Minister.
