P C George Flayed

Cutting across political lines, the council flayed Government Chief Whip P C George for leading a malicious campaign against the Corporation alleging disregard to the Ayyankali Square in Vellayambalam. The resolution in this regard moved by Welfare Standing Committee chairman V S Padmakumar found the biggest supporter in Maheswaran Nair of the UDF.

‘’George’s stand supporting DHRM’s false campaign is nothing but a cheap political drama,’’ Nair said.

Row Over Janasree

A resolution moved by Palayam Rajan demanding that the Central and State Governments should withdraw from the move to grant ` 14.26 crore to Janasree witnessed ruckus in the council meeting. Rajan and Sukarno of the LDF alleged that the corrupt practice was intended to break the back of the Kudumbashree Movement. The UDF members opposed the motion and a heated exchange followed, which lasted for around 15 minutes.
