THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Museum Police on Friday arrested a youth wanted in connection with the theft some weeks ago at an apartment opposite the Chief Minister’s residence at Jagathy. The police said that they had arrested Assin Jose, 24, of Thrissur, wanted in several theft cases registered in stations in Thrissur and Ernakulam districts.The police said that the accused, a handsome youth, usually broke into posh apartments, houses of doctors and residences of parish priests. His modus operandi was to first make a visit to the apartments to identify the locations and to later arrive with the tools for the ‘operation’. As he was good-looking, he didn’t give a chance for security personnel to be suspicious, the police said. The tech-savvy accused led a luxurious life and used to stay in luxurious hotels with the young girls he befriended on Facebook.The investigation was monitored by City Police Commissioner T J Jose and DCP Putta Vimaladitya. The team comprised Cantonment AC Haridas, Museum CI Mohanan Nair, ASI Sunil Lal, SCPO Gopakumar, CPO Saji Sreekanth, shadow police team members Lanju Lal and Sabu and members of the Cyber Cell.INTUC man found deadSudheer Raj, 39, an INTUC worker, was found dead with his throat slit at his residence at Venpalavattom on Friday. The Pettah police conducted an inquest and sent the body for post-mortem.According to police officials, the man was staying alone at his house, estranged from his wife. Their only son also lived with his mother. Prima-facie, the death appeared to be suicide, officials said. The man had attempted suicide earlier too and was under medication for mental illness, police said.
