BANGALORE: The High court on Tuesday imposed a fine Rs 1 lakh on Tile Italia Mosaic for filing three writ petitions for the same cause of action and wasting the time of the court without any valid reason.
The division bench consisting of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh also directed the registry to relist the case, to initiate recovery proceedings if the company filed to pay the cost amount to the Bangalore Mediation Centre within three months. The tiles laid by Tile Italia Mosaic in the house of former Superintendent of Police, G R Parameshappa was damaged within three years and Parameshappa filed a petition in the District Consumer Forum. The Consumer Forum found defeciency in the service of the company and directed it to pay Rs 2.53 lakh as compensation for replacing the tiles along with damages.
