New Delhi: On the night of February 5, a woman was raped at gunpoint in a moving car by its occupants after accepting a lift from them late at night while returning from a Kolkata nightclub. When she went to lodge a complaint at the police station, the cops, she said, humiliated her.
While a state cabinet minister questioned the need of a mother of two children, estranged from her husband, to go and have a drink at a nightclub, the state chief minister, herself a woman, saw 'Red'. She called it a got-up case and castigated it as a political conspiracy.
While there has been no apology from those who had questioned and mocked her moral character, that could not deter the woman from pursuing the case. The information she provided to the police helped the cops crack the case and arrest three people.
She will interact with IBNLive readers on February 24 from 4 pm. You can post your questions here. But please do not refer to her name, religion, community, area of residence, sexual orientation, profession or anything else that might lead to any kind of identification.
