Colleges for selective inspection

The impending task force inspections on private technical institutions has sounded alarm bells among the college managements, who have submitted a representation to the state government to confine the inspections to colleges charging fee above Rs 50,000.

In a meeting on Sunday, the Vidyasamsthala Welfare Samtihi, an association of colleges including engineering, pharmacy and MBA/MCA colleges which had agreed to a fee structure of Rs 35,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 27,000 per annum respectively, requested the government to restrict the inspections to the 83 colleges charging higher fees. The colleges have filed a writ petition against the inspections and the policy.
