New Delhi: There was no respite from the chill for the people of the capital as night temperature dropped further and was expected to plunge to lower levels over the coming days.
While the maximum temperature remained well below normal levels during the day time, the minimum temperature overnight fell down to 8.4 degrees Celsius, which is a degree above normal but over two degrees less than the previous day's minimum.
In fact, the minimum temperature that has dropped four degrees over the past two days, is expected to go further down in the coming days.
The weather department has predicted a minimum of six and seven degrees for Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

The record lowest minimum for the month was recorded on January 16, 1935 when mercury touched minus 0.6 degrees Celsius while the record highest maximum was 32.5 degrees on January 28, 2004.
