Three days after he had been kidnapped in Hyderabad on Monday evening, police rescued radiologist Sri Harsha Reddy from the kidnappers at Nuzvid in Krishna district on Thursday night.
Police took four persons into custody in connection with the case but did not confirm it.
Sources said that Sri Harsha Reddy was traced at Nuzvid with the help of a cell phone signal that was being used by the kidnappers. Initially, one person was picked up by the investigators in Hyderabad on Thursday and basing on the information provided by him, a team was sent from Hyderabad to Vijayawada to trace the radiologist.
The police team tracked a cell phone used by the kidnappers to contact their friend in Hyderabad and zeroed in on them at Nuzvid. They rescued Sri Harsha Reddy from the kidnappers and took three of them into custody. It is learnt that the accused were relatives of Sri Harsha Reddy and kidnapped him over a property dispute. As many as six teams were formed comprising senior police officials to search for the victim.
Earlier in Hyderabad, the police questioned Reddy’s family members and suspected that some property disputes over transfer of ownership of some properties to Harsha Reddy’s stepbrother by their father Lakshma Reddy. A few days ago, when Lakshma Reddy discussed transfer of the ownership of some assets situated in Vijayawada in the name of his younger son, Harsha Reddy opposed it and had a heated argument with him.
Harsha Reddy also warned his father not to transfer the ownership of some other assets in favour of step brother. After the demise of Harsha Reddy’s mother, Lakshma Reddy married another woman and had a son. His second wife too died a few years ago.
The radiologist of Yashoda Hospital went missing since Monday evening.
